This morning I had a great drink after breakfast. My fiancée wanted a frozen margarita, but those give me a stomach ache because of all the sugar. We went to a Mexican place - keep her happy, you know - but I opted for a house cocktail of whiskey, blood orange juice and fresh ginger. I maybe would have liked a little less juice, or a slice instead of the juice altogether, but it was still pretty great.
Now she’s off seeing Pitch Perfect 2 with her friend and I’ve retired to the roof with a some Bulleit mixed with a little Gold Peak Lemonade Iced Tea. I also brought up a Bluetooth speaker and I’m currently listening to some Michael Christmas. Look him up if you like creative beats and good rhymes.
Bulleit is excellent, everyone knows that. It’s probably best neat with some water at hand - complex flavor, some vanilla and oak at the start but there’s a lot of rye in there and things get spicy in the middle. Then there’s a sweetish finish (Toffee? Cherry?), which is why I decided to mix it with the tea. Gold Peak is the best mass-produced iced tea, and not just because Ron Howard narrates the commercials. The lemon has almost no artificial edge, a rarity in these drinks. Some of you may bristle at the thought of store bought tea, but it’s pretty humid and I'm all about instant gratification.

Something went wrong with Gold Peak around 5 years ago. then at some point the tea went from fresh to old. I tried it many times at many different place (it
had
given me years of tasty tea) and still, meh to blech. Maybe the distributor...

God this sounds amazing. Bulleit on the rocks is great so I’m sure with ice tea it’s really refreshing.
